Corporate team building on the water in Clearwater, FL
Team building that actually builds a team.
Trade the trust falls for a mini boat convoy. Your team pairs up in two-seat, self-drive mini boats, and Clearwater Escapes delivers the boats to the launch point.
Why a mini boat convoy works for teams
Good team building gets people out of their usual roles. In a two-seat mini boat, colleagues sit side by side and share the job: one drives, one navigates, and both have to communicate. Put several pairs together and you have a convoy that has to stay together, which is a surprisingly good exercise in coordination, and a lot more fun than a conference room.
Mix up the pairs across departments, let the new hire lead the convoy, or pair managers with the people they don't usually work with. The team photo at the end is a bonus.
Planning notes for organizers
- Headcount: two people per mini boat. Tell us your crew size when you request your escape.
- Drivers: each boat needs a driver who is 18+ with a photo ID. Drivers born on or after January 1, 1988 need a Florida boater card or an FWC temporary certificate. Share our boater card guide with the team ahead of time.
- Logistics: we deliver the boats to the launch point and confirm the launch point with you in advance.
- Safety: life vests are provided and every ride starts with a walkthrough of the controls and safety basics.
- Discounts: we offer military and senior discounts.
Tick "group outing" in the request and add any details (a client outing, a celebration, an offsite agenda) in the notes. We'll plan the rest with you.
How a mini boat convoy works
Every mini boat seats two, side by side. For a group, everyone pairs up, each pair gets its own boat, and the whole crew rides together as a mini boat convoy. It's the same boat, the same walkthrough and the same life vests for everybody, just more of them on the water at once.
- Two people per boat. Count your crew, divide by two, and that's your convoy.
- A driver for every boat. Each boat needs a driver who is 18+ with a photo ID. Drivers born on or after January 1, 1988 also need a Florida boater card or an FWC temporary certificate. Sort out who's driving before the day; our boater card guide explains it.
- We come to you. We deliver the boats to the launch point, so the group meets at the water.
- Walkthrough first. Every ride starts with a walkthrough of the controls and safety basics.
Tick "group outing" when you request your escape and we'll plan the details with you: date, crew size and launch point.
